Transdermal Gels
LIPODERM
CPT Inc. uses a new base, Lipoderm, that doesn't have some of the "stickiness"
associated with bases that are used by many compounding pharmacies. A
transdermal gel is a local gel that can be applied to and absorbed directly through
the skin. Utilizing similar technology to the well studied and popular base,
Lipoderm, an ANHYDROUS version that is designed for actives that are unstable in
water. Lipoderm has been intensively studied in order to validate its ability to
transport drugs through human skin (see information below). Transdermal drug
delivery systems are gaining popularity, as several drugs have been successfully
delivered by this route. Transdermal delivery can provide both local and minimal
systemic effects. Many medications can be formulated with a Lipoderm base. For
better effects, most physicians prescribe transdermal Contact our pharmacy about
